The ZDX features additional safety elements (not mandated) including pedestrian injury mitigation features such as a deformable aluminum hood and hood hinges, as well as breakaway windshield-wiper pivots.

In addition, the ZDX is the first Acura vehicle to use a mercury-free Navigation system display screen. In the manufacturing facility, a dedicated line separates different manufacturing scrap materials for recycling.
