The engine will need a cylinder head replacement or a complete rebuild altogether, depending on the damage. This will cost you considerably money then just replacing your Acura’s timing belt.
You will also be advised to consider replacing the timing belt tensioner, as well as the water pump, which are recommended for replacement at the same time as the timing belt. You will save the cost of labour if you installing these components while replacing your timing belt. The labour rate would equal the cost of the timing belt replacement if these parts are installed separately. The water pump cools the engine by circulating coolant around the block back to the radiator. If the water pump is worn, a coolant leakage could result, which might not only lead to an overheated engine, but compromise the operation of the timing belt.
