It seems the wave of nostalgia Acura has been riding for some time is far from over, as the brand has just unveiled a brand-new all-electric SUV bearing a name from the past.
The Acura RSX was officially introduced during the festivities of Monterey Car Week in California.
An In-House Recipe
Unlike the ZDX, which is built on a platform shared with General Motors, the RSX SUV was entirely engineered by the brand's own team, based on Honda's new EV Global platform.
The Japanese automaker's new all-electric SUV will also be the first to use the ASIMO OS software.
One of the standout features of the Acura RSX is its ability to serve as an energy reserve. For example, in the event of a power outage at home, it can function as a generator.
The RSX SUV will be assembled at Honda's Marysville, Ohio plant, where the Integra is also built—another model that sparks fond memories for longtime fans of the brand. It's no coincidence Acura chose this factory, as Honda aims to prove it is possible to assemble vehicles with different powertrains on the same production line—a true revolution in today's auto industry.
An Eye-Catching Design
In my opinion, Acura has done an excellent job with the RSX's design. The SUV boasts a highly sporty silhouette with angular shapes and sharp lines. If you notice elements reminiscent of the legendary NSX in the RSX's styling, you're not mistaken—the Japanese automaker drew inspiration from it.
While performance figures have yet to be announced, we know the SUV will feature a dual-motor electric configuration, meaning all-wheel drive will come standard. Strong performance is expected, and Acura's engineers have equipped the RSX with a sportier suspension setup and Brembo brakes, hinting at the model's ambitious intentions.
The first units of the Acura RSX are expected to arrive in dealerships in the second half of 2026.
